Important Information about Manu:



  • Manu National Park is a protected natural area located in southeastern Peru, partly in the departments of Madre de Dios and Cusco.
  • Some 850 species of birds have been identified and rare species.
  • The area has a wide range of climates, from the cold, dry Andes to the hot, humid Amazon forests. 
  •  It was declared a Biosphere Reserve in 1977 and a World Natural Heritage Site in 1987 by UNESCO. 
  • The Manu National Park is one of the most important protected areas in the world and the heart of conservation in Peru, celebrated 40 years of existence on May 29 this year 2013.
